Lloydspharmacy cuts support costs with preventative maintenance model

Lloydspharmacy has cut the cost of keeping its tills and hand-held terminals working in its 1,700 outlet, through a preventative maintenance support and maintenance agreement with Vista Retail Support, an EPOS maintenance services company.

Vista Retail Support now supports over 27,000 items of IT equipment in store comprising 2558 POS lanes and equipment in the Back Office and Patient Relationship Management (PMR) system areas.

Vista Retail Support monitors response times continuously and reliability can be proven to have improved because the volume of calls has fallen.

Eddie Nicholas, Lloydspharmacy IT Service Manager, said, “Every branch of Lloydspharmacy's large pharmacy network must be able to trade for every minute of opening time. Lost systems means lost sales, which impacts both Lloydspharmacy and our customers. Critically, we rely on our EPOS tills and hand-held scanners to scan the bar codes on products and prescriptions.” Lloydspharmacy first signed a Maintenance Support Contract with Vista back in July 2003, for three years, when the company had 1400 stores. Helene Bland, Account Director at Vista, said: “This is a major contract win for Vista, our proven capability to deliver the excellent standards of service required by Lloydspharmacy and also our ability to offer a maintenance offering which fulfils their business requirements were the main reasons behind their decision to award the business to us.”
